Meet the Team: Liz Lawton, LCSW, OSW-C

Meet Survivorship Behavioral Health Clinician, Liz!

What brought you to the field of survivorship?

I am passionate about providing and increasing available services to the survivorship population. Throughout my own cancer experience, it became evident where things can be grown and improved and it made me want to advocate and make change for those who come after me.

What excites you most about the future of survivorship?

The growth! This field is exploding and it is so exciting. It's wonderful to be able to help in ensuring that every cancer survivor feels supported when adjusting to that "new normal." I am so hopeful that this field will continue to grow to meet the need. The ability to support every single cancer patient and survivor is such an incredible honor.

What’s the best part of being part of the Oncovery team?

The team for sure. Everyone here brings such passion and perspective to this work and it's so much more than "just a job" for each member of the team.

When you were a kid, what did you want to be when you grew up?

I wanted to be a history teacher. I love history and believe we can learn so much by looking to the past!

What’s your favorite way to spend a Sunday morning?

My kids are early risers so typically we are up early and doing something outdoors- whether it's working in the garden, riding bikes, or going to the local farm to say hello to the animals. If we have to be indoors it's arts and crafts or baking most likely.
