Meet the Team: Dennis Verducci, MSN, NP-BC, OCN

What brought you to the field of survivorship?

I am fortunate to have spent my entire 16 year nursing career, both as a staff nurse and nurse practitioner, all in Hematology/Oncology, with a heavy focus on Multiple Myeloma. In my career, I have seen firsthand how a chronic disease like Myeloma impacts patients, not only during active treatment, but also well beyond treatment and in the maintenance phase. That is when many patients are adjusting to a “new normal” while still dealing with lingering side effects and emotional challenges. My experience has shown me how important it is to have ongoing, structured support during this stage of care. The survivorship role at OncoveryCare allows me to use my experience to guide patients through life after treatment, helping them feel supported, understood, and thriving in their life beyond cancer.

What excites you most about the future of survivorship?

Cancer treatments are advancing at a rapid rate and patients are living longer than ever before. I’m excited to see survivorship being recognized as a vital part of cancer care.  With advances in the telehealth platform, a better understanding of long-term side effects, and more holistic approaches, we can connect with more patients and create personalized care plans that will support every aspect of the patients well-being.

What’s the best part of being part of the Oncovery team?

From my very first interaction with Justin and Hil, I knew right away that they both shard my deep passion for helping cancer patients thrive in life. After my first interview with them, it was clear to me that Oncovery was a place that truly cares, not just about the patients they see, but about creating a supportive and collaborative team environment. I love being surrounded by people who share the same passion for making a difference in cancer patients’ lives and who bring compassion, empathy, and teamwork to everything they do.

When you were a kid, what did you want to be when you grew up?

When I was a kid, I wanted to be the quarterback for the Raiders. I’ve been a huge fan since I was 5 years old, when I watched my very first football game on TV. It happened to be the Raiders, and they lost badly. For some reason, that made me root for them even more, and they’ve been my team ever since.

What’s your favorite way to spend a Sunday morning?

On a perfect Sunday morning, you’ll find me with a good cup of black tea or green tea and a hot everything bagel with butter to start the morning. If it’s football season, I’m getting ready to watch my Raiders play; win or lose, it’s my favorite tradition. Outside of football, I love spending Sunday mornings either bass fishing on a small lake, going for a hike or a going for a run in a park to enjoy the outdoors.
